The Fifty Best held a “blind” tasting of 46 bourbon whiskies with eighteen members of ou
r spirits judging panel. Strict tasting rules were applied. The order of service was established beforehand by lottery. The higher proof spirits (100+ prf) were tasted after the lower proof bourbons. Each of the bourbons were poured into fresh glasses from new sealed bottles, and served at slightly above room temperature. The judges wrote down their impressions of each product on score shee
ts. Double-Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded according to a set range of final point scores received from the judges. The tasting notes that follow are summaries of the judges’ opinions, with all replicated commentary eliminated. The states of origin, distilleries and alcohol proofs are identified for each brand.
2018 ANOTHER GOLD WINNER FROM “THE FIFTY BEST-GUIDE TO FINE LIVING” 
The Fifty Best held a “blind” tasting of 34 bourbon whiskies with a panel of 20 judges. Strict tasting rules were applied. The order of service was established beforehand by lottery. The bourbons were poured into fresh glasses from new sealed bottles, and served at room temperature. Each of the bourbons were judged and scored separately. Only ice water, unflavored unsalted crackers and chips were available to cleanse the palate.
The judges wrote down their impressions of each product on score sheets. The scoring was done on a 5-point system, with 5 as the best. Double-Gold, Gold and Silver medals were awarded according to a set range of final point scores received from the judges. There were no Bronze medals awarded in this tasting. Jane’s Saddlebag (JSB) is named after the owners
Grandmother “Jane Blackmore” and was established in 2004. When Jane left the inheritance to Peter A. Blackmore, the “Saddlebag” style home, that was the original structure, was refurbished and created the name “Jane’s Saddlebag”. We are a premier tourist destination in the Northern KY Area, and we are rich in American history, local history, great homemade food, monthly events, corporate parties, family outings, special events, music venues, unique farm experience and all along the Ohio River. Our 35 acre complex has something to do for ALL ages!
